Why Am I Not Part of This Family?

So I'm killing time today... and googling Jordan Staal pics... when I come across a picture of them with their mother. Now granted, their mom is a nice looking lady and when she's my mother-in-law one of these days I'll let her know... but I would have loved this picture a lot more if it were just her sons. What do you think?
I would LOVE to be a part of that family!

Men's Olympic Roster for Team Canada to be announced on December 30, 2009.
That's tomorrow btw. Good luck Staal brothers! I hope all of you make it! That would be amazing!

If not... at least two of you have that shiny thing... and there's always next time... but you all are going to make it so there's no use for all the negativity.

Hope everyone has a wonderful New Year's!

Be Safe!

Until next time... peace, love & hockey!

Oh... I almost forgot. Here's a link to an article on Marc Andre Fleury. It's worth reading!
He seems like such a great guy!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I thought I would do better with this whole blogging thing after basketball season was over for me, but apparently teaching is a full time job! Who knew!? I'm hoping after I'm through this first year that it won't be as time consuming. I feel like that's all I do. But I want to do my job well so I spend a lot of extra time at school. But for now, it's the holidays. One of the perks to being a teacher? Two weeks off at Christmas! Yeah... that's worth 4 1/2 years of college. Seriously.
The Pens are doing well. But of course you don't need me to tell you that. Luckily Jordan Staal did not break his nose on Monday night. I'm gonna admit. I was a little bit distraught. I mean, it's possible I might have cried a little. That was a lot of blood that came trickling out of his nose. I'm not gonna lie. I was scared. I thought some hard core hurtin' went down with that. I was thinking it hit his eye and broke his nose or possibly fractured like an orbital bone or something. It was scary. But, like the bad ass he is... he came back into the game and he's gonna be able to play tonight. An Iron Man he is.
Not much to report on here. Slasher, Guardian, Enforcer and I are going to Raleigh on New Year's Eve to watch the Rangers and Hurricanes play. Hopefully the Staal boys will spend quite a bit of time in the penalty box! I'm thinking since I'm not a huge fan of Carolina or New York, I'm gonna be the retard sitting behind the penalty box in a Jordan Staal shirt. I figure someone needs to show him some love, even though he's not playing. We'll see. If you're watching the game, be sure to look for us. We'll be the four chicks (and one dude... we're taking our cousin Doug as well. He just doesn't realize what he's getting himself into.) with a sign that reads...
"WE MAY BE FROM MAYNARDVILLE, TN... BUT OUR SEATS ARE DEFINITELY CENTER ICE".
Yeah. We'll be those idiots who can't decide which Staal they like more. That's us.
Anyway. Until Next Time.
We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Peace, Love & Penguins!

I Miss College....

I'm just going to come right out and say it...
The real world SUCKS!!!
I miss the days of college, where if I wanted to go to a concert or sporting event in the middle of the week... out of town... I could. I didn't have to worry about getting things together for the day I was going to miss. I didn't have to worry about being missed. I didn't have to worry about losing my job for laying out late at night in the middle of the week. It was kinda nice. I understand why people stay in college for years at a time now. I really do. The funny part is, I think I actually had more money when I was in college than what I have now with a full time job! Man... it sucks!
But what doesn't suck is the fact that as of next weekend, my cousins and I are going to Atlanta to watch the Penguins vs Thrashers. The bad part about that (if there is a bad part) is the fact that Letang, Gonchar, Brooksie, or TK probably won't be playing. Word on the street is, though, Malkin will be back before then. That's a plus!
Pens were off to such a great start but have kinda been sucking it up lately, since 1/3 of the top players are out with injuries. But you all already know that. Slasher, Enforcer and I blame it on Guardian. She's been bailing on us and hasn't watched one Pens game with us all season. Even Moose has been watching with us, but apparently she doesn't bring the luck that Guardian does. Things are going to have to get better...
Enforcer is an angel and used her knowledge of Amazon to find us Penguins calendars. There's nothing better than flipping to a new beautiful Penguin each month! Now we have them year round.
As excited as we are about the Penguins game... Enforcer is a huge fan of Marc Staal so that makes her a fan of the Rangers as well....
She's been dying to see them play, so we decided to get tickets to see them play Carolina in Raleigh on New Year's Eve (since Carolina is our second favorite team).
Since it was the holiday season... we decided to splurge a little on tickets and just not get each other Christmas presents. And I'm pretty sure that's been one of the best decisions we've ever made... because our seats are CENTER ICE... two rows behind the penalty box. Maybe Marc and Eric will get put in at the same time! Hopefully Carolina will turn something around before then. If not, it's going to suck being with probably the only Rangers fan in the building (namely Enforcer).
Basketball season is over for me. Hopefully that will give me lots more time for hockey (and hopefully a nice bonus for Christmas presents). I haven't got to watch my games as much as I'd like. It's all gonna turn around now!
Step it up Pens!
Until next time... peace, love & hockey.
XOXOXO

Sports Illustrated Loves Me

I know it has been a while since I have sat down and filled you all in on the stories in our lives... so, I apologize and I hope you aren't too disappointed.
Sorry about not posting. Again, I can't get any of my cousins to contribute or this wouldn't be so much work. I'm nine weeks in to my new career and a month or more of that has also consisted of being a basketball coach... boys and girls. Thank goodness that their season only lasts about a month and a half. Not only am I missing some hockey games but the only two shows that I watch religiously (Heroes and Bones) come on on Mondays and Thursdays which are the two days a week that I have basketball games. Since I coach the boys and girls, it means I don't get home in time to watch either show. That's what you get when you live out in the boondocks. Speaking of... the elementary school where I went to school is the smallest in our county and it's really where I wanted to teach but it's difficult to get a position there because that's where everyone wants to be. Since I'm teaching (and coaching) at another school in the county, we ended up playing my elementary team last week and my teams ended up winning both games. Awesome, considering my boys haven't won a game all year... or even come close. I was so proud that my kids beat my elementary school in their gym. On the other hand, I go to church with their coach and assistant coach and I'm pretty sure I might be banned from the community. J/k... hopefully.
On another note, the Penguins are off to a great start, as if you didn't already know that. Gonchar is going to be a big loss (broken wrist), but we have other players that can step up and fill his shoes.
BUT... the main reason why I chose to post today is because usually I curse Sports Illustrated for not having much hockeyness in it but apparently the hockey gods have been smiling down on me this past week because I've been blessed with much lovely Jordan Staalness. Because we live in football country and hockey isn't important there is only one little store (that's an hours drive away) that we know of that sells Penguins gear (and we're pretty sure they only have that much because we've became good friends with a couple of employees and the owner knows us by name) so that is where we go to con grown men into ordering a bunch of hockey stuff for four girls. Anyway, we go in last week and I'm not really planning on buying anything because I think they have nothing new and there isn't anything that I really need. WRONG! What does Enforcer find sitting on the shelf, that was definitely not there the last time we were in... A JORDAN STAAL BOBBLEHEAD! I bout peed my pants, and bought it of course... so it's been sitting in my room smiling at me for about a week now. AND THEN... I go to the mailbox today (expecting hockey shirts that I've ordered and being sad about because they still didn't) and I see that my Sports Illustrated has come. I bought this stupid subscription just so I could learn more about sports and usually I just flip through it, hit the high notes and give them to Enforcer... BUT NOT TODAY... I'm flipping through looking for the little they have about hockey and what is there on one of the very first pages...? AN INTERVIEW WITH JORDAN STAAL!!!! SERIOUSLY?!?! Somebody upstairs must really love me. Not only that, but also on the Penguins site you can take a survey and be registered to win an autographed Staal jersey... WHAT?!?! What is with all of the Jordan Staal love? I don't know what it is, but it does not bother me at all!
The cousins and I are headed to Nashville this weekend to hang out. We've been going to Lynchburg these past few years to the Jack Daniel's BBQ Festival and it's become a tradition. I think this will be year number five. It should be exciting. Me and five of my cousins. Good thing we are so close... it means we can all cram in one hotel room and save some money! It should be fun! It always is.
Slasher, Guardian, Enforcer and I are headed to Atlanta in November to watch the Penguins play the Thrashers. Can't wait! We are the traveling support crew for the Pens. Sucks we can't seem to get tickets to Mellon Arena so we'll just catch them on the road. Maybe we can catch a game at Mellon in the Spring!
Hope all is well with everyone! Again, sorry it's been so long! Penguins play tomorrow night and Saturday night! Word on the street is Brent Johnson is going to be starting in the crease tomorrow night...
Until next time... peace, love & hockey!

11 Days...

The Penguins first pre-season game starts tonight! How I wish I could watch that!
Regular season games tickets went on sale this past Saturday for October and November... With no luck, my cousins and I attempted to purchase Pens tickets for Mellon Arena. Unfortunately, we were not able to obtain any tickets... and that left us very sad....
UNTIL...
I actually went over to Enforcer's house last night to get a few things that she had picked up for me. Well, we got to talkin about how we were upset that we didn't get any Pens tickets and how we would probably have to wait until the Spring for our next chance to see them at Mellon Arena when Enforcer mentions how the Pens are playing in Atlanta in November...
WHAT!?
No way! I hadn't even looked at away games. I thought they were all too far away. BUT! Atlanta is actually pretty dang close for us. So... we decide to see if there are any tickets for the November 21st game... and guess what? There are! So as of this moment, Enforcer is actually ordering us Pens tickets! Woo!
So... that's another hockey game that we have lined up to go along with the other two. ONE: 11 days from now we go to Nashville to watch the Predators play the Hurricanes in a pre-season game. TWO: (hopefully) we'll be going to Raleigh for New Year's Eve to watch the Hurricanes play the Rangers. (And now) THREE: we're going to watch the Pens play the Thrashers in Atlanta on November 21st! YAY!
Hockey season is so close! To quote Enforcer, "I can feel the cold of the ice and taste the blood." Unquote. I can't wait to get this season started. It'll be the first full season of hockey for Guardian, Slasher and I! We're looking forward to it!
I'm trying to balance things out with work. I'm an assistant (girls & boys) basketball coach now so that keeps me busy as well! It only lasts a couple of months though so I should be okay. With all the germy kids though, I'm fighting a cold and losing my voice. Go team! lol
Regular Season is so close!
Until next time... peace, love & hockey.

He's Legal

Jordan Staal is officially 21 today... I guess if he wanted to drink anywhere in Minnesota, he could now! If not, he'll always have Pittsburgh... and... that... shiny... thing.

Jordan Staal rocks my world! And apparently since I'm the only one that blogs anymore, this post is going to be all about him!

Yeah. I'm pretty sure he needs me.
Single game tickets go on sale Saturday!!! Pittsburgh here we come!
Oh, and the Penguins changed their site. It's nice.

Our first pre-season game that we get to attend is two weeks from Saturday! I can't wait. It's almost hockey season.

Sorry this couldn't be longer. Work is killing me. I'm trying to find time.

Until next time. Peace, love & hockey.

XOXOXO

P.S. Enforcer turns 29 on Saturday so we'll be celebrating all weekend. Wish us luck... or pray for us... however you wanna look at it.

Time Goes By So Slowly...

Sorry we haven't been around in a while. Well... sorry I haven't been around in a while... not so much we. My new job is taking up most of my time right now. I just can't seem to get my classroom the way I want it. I rearranged some things again today so maybe this will work. If I could get it where I want it, I wouldn't have to stay at school until 5:00 every night moving things around. Anyway... to other news....
This is going to be a short post. Not much is going on right now... ya know... that whole OFF-season thing. BUT!!! All is well because hockey season starts back in a little over a month. AND...
WE HAVE PRE-SEASON HOCKEY TICKETS!!!
Okay... well... they're not Penguins tickets, but at least they're hockey tickets. If we can't watch the best Staal (that's Jordan, for those of you who don't know), we'll settle with one of the others. Don't hate us because we're Carolina fans... forgive us please. We like Eric Staal and Cam Ward though and Raleigh is one of the closest hockey towns to where we live (given the six hour drive). Nashville is actually closer, but we don't really know a lot about the Predators, and they are a Western Conference team so they aren't going to play the Penguins as much.
BUT... good thing for us... the Predators are going to be playing the Hurricanes in the pre-season!!! That not only means a trip to Nashville for us, but a trip to Nashville in which we get to go to a hockey game AND get into bars because Guardian is now 21 (and we haven't been to Nashville since she turned 21!) Slasher and I are also huge country music fans, so we're excited about seeing some live acts downtown!
It's going to be great and it's a great way to prepare for our (Slasher, Guardian and I) first full hockey season! Can't wait!
Until next time... peace, love & hockey!
XOXOXO
32 days till the return of hockey!
Go Pens!

Pre-season Now?

I'm sorry our blog is not at full potential. I wish I could say that I have all kinds of free time to write, but I don't. So much has went on in the past two weeks and I have been extremely busy. New job, huge expectations, lots of moving around... you get my drift.
I took a job as a 3rd grade teacher approximately two weeks ago... it was an interim job, which basically meant that if the teacher that had that class before me wanted to come back from maternity leave, I would be out of a job. School started back on Wednesday of this week... on TUESDAY, the principal (aka my boss) calls me into his office and informs me that he's moving me to 5th grade! Now don't get me wrong... I was totally stoked. It meant I now have a permanent job and I was only going to be teaching two subjects. The downside... that was about 1:00 on Tuesday... kids would be there at 8:00 the next morning... oh, my. Sooo. I had to pretty much disassemble one room, take down all of my stuff, pack everything up in my car and move it all to the outer buildings and assemble another room. All the work I had did in two weeks in one room, I was going to have to turn around and to in a few hours in the new room. Much thanks to my mom, Enforcer and Slasher though because I totally could not have done it without them. Needless to say, I was a little stressed... BUT now it's the weekend, I'm pretty much settled in, I've met my kids, and I'm ready to get this school year started- the right way! Wish me luck.
It's been a long week (or two) and we've not been around much. I keep trying to get Enforcer to post some stuff, but she keeps whining her way out of it. I'm gonna have to lay the smack-down I guess!
Anyway... pre-season is soon... very soon... and I'm pretty dang excited about it. My students really have no idea about hockey so I'm trying to get them interested in it. I have my Penguins magnets and pictures up in my classroom and I plan on getting a rug for my door. I can't wait. I have to get that first paycheck first though.
Penguins tickets go on sale on September 12th and I'm prepared! Enforcer, Slasher and I have our work schedules laid out and have the Penguins schedule highlighted to correspond with our days off! We can't wait to go to Pittsburgh!
Anyway... I have lesson plans to work on and work to get together for my students. I hope all of you are doing well. Maybe once I get settled in I'll be able to post more.
Until next time... peace, love & hockey!
XOXOXO

Happy Birthday Mr Captain...

It's your birthday, sleep if you want to ... And if you want to sleep with the most coveted trophy in sports, that's okay too.

We wish we were that trophy!

Max Talbot and Pascal Dupuis' days with the cup are up. I must say, I'm surprised with Talbot's. I think it's great that he spent a lot of time with the benefits. That's awesome! I'm betting though, that there was some behind the scenes action that they didn't tell us about. He got to party with Marc Andre and Kris Letang... what's better than that? Oh yeah, the fact that he did it with this...

Mathieu Garon, Marc Andre Fleury, Sidney Crosby, Kris Letang and Chris Kunitz all go up in the next couple of weeks. Keep a look out for that.

Hope everyone is doing well. We know we are. We just wish there was more to talk about. Is it pre-season YET?!

Until next time... peace, love & hockey.

PS. Happy 22nd Birthday Sid!

New J-O-B...

Since my dearest cousins and I decided we should start a blog, I seem to be the only one writing on it... Apparently I need to remind them of the password so they can give a little insight into their worlds...
A little insight into my world:
My computer was down for about a week so I haven't been catching up on posts.
I got a new job. I'm a 3rd grade teacher now. Wish me luck.
Because of my new job... I've been in meetings all week. They've been long and boring and I've taken in so much new information that my brain is exhausted by the time I've come home.
I've had good intentions of blogging but it just hasn't happened.
Lots of new "Days With The Stanley Cup" posts are up so I'll link to them here in case you haven't seen them:
I don't remember if I linked to Brooks Orpik but here he is.
The love of my life, Jordan Staal, has had the best day yet in my opinion. Is it just me or does he seem like a bit of a camera hog? There were like a million pictures of him with the cup compared to two or three photos of everyone else. I can imagine him walking around Thunder Bay with the cup going, "Take my picture here... Oh this looks like a nice spot... Wait, let's do one on my boat." Love his heart. He's precious.
Matt Cooke and Mike Zigomanis were next. Matt Cooke's kids are so cute! I love kids. And is it just me or is Matt Cooke actually a pretty good looking guy when he's cleaned up?
Gonchar's day with the cup is up as well. The article is pretty simple and Gonch apparently didn't do much with the cup. I like the fact that he lives on a private island. Maybe I could go visit someday.
Talbot and Dupuis should be going up sometime tomorrow. I can't wait to see what all Max Talbot got into with the cup. It should be interesting.
Tomorrow is comprised of many more meetings for me. People talking about stuff that I have no idea about... so I'm going to be staring off into space wondering when hockey is going to start back. I must say though... I did buy lots of Pittsburgh Penguins magnets to hang on my filing cabinets in my room. Since hockey is a virtually unknown sport around here, I'm sure I'll be getting lots of questions about those. I can't wait! :)
I think it's just, like, 58 days till season opener? Right?
Man I hope so.
Until next time... peace, love & hockey.
XOXOXO
Go Penguins!
When's pre-season?!

Lightning...

This is going to be a short and sweet post! I felt like something needed to be said because our page was looking a little old!
I've recently decided that I am going to be a fan of the Tampa Bay Lightning... Enforcer knows the most about hockey and she approves so I figure it'll be okay! I don't know why I have decided this, but I figure we'll probably be watching them play the Pens in person at least once this year (hopefully) and I would like to know some things about them. For me, I have to become a fan before I know anything about anyone. It doesn't matter if it's a musician, actor, athlete, etc. I like to know a little bit about who I'm rooting for. Therefore, I'm working on becoming a fan of the Lightning. I think becoming a fan of an opposing team will help me learn more about the sport. It also gives me the chance to watch more TV! (Like I need another excuse.)
So... without further ado... the teams that have my attention:
1. Pittsburgh Penguins (they are number one in my heart)
2. Carolina Hurricanes (I'm a fan of the Staals... I'm sorry... and Carolina is close to home)
3. Tampa Bay Lightning (I don't know why... It just sounded good)
An Honorary Mention goes out to the Rangers... not because I'm a fan, but Enforcer would kill me if I didn't mention Marc Staal...
Speaking of lightning... I'm pretty sure it ran in on my computer at home. That's why I'm posting this blog from work. I have a great job, ay? Yeah... it's okay... but tomorrow is my last day anyway so I'm not that concerned aboot it!
Enforcer and I have decided that we need to make a series of posts dedicated to things we find related to hockey in the offseason... posts about how we spend our offseason thinking about hockey. Like the fact that I'm reading other hockey teams websites just because I'm caught up on all the Penguins news. That's material for another post though.
So... to sum things up... we can't wait for pre-season and we hope to be up and running a little better sometime in the near future so that we may be able to entertain ya'll!
Oh... and individual game tickets go on sale on September 12th, which just happens to be Enforcer's birthday! Kudos! Can't wait!
Until next time... peace, love & hockey!
XOXOXO
Go Penguins!

Highway 87...

Yes... we're back from vacation and oh what a great vacation it was! One of these days when we're all rich, we're going to take month long vacations. Or just have a vacation home where we can go whenever we want..... yeah, right... it's nice to dream isn't it?
We decided we want this house:
I think it's amazing at all the things that can be related to hockey when you take a road trip. I don't think we started noticing most of it until we got toward the southern part of Alabama. We left at five in the morning, so our brains didn't start firing on all cylinders until about seven hours later, at which point we were a lot closer to the beach! Some things we found associated with hockey:
1. The road we took into Florida was Highway 87.
2. There were a couple of sod farms. (We didn't see any Staals though.)
3. We passed a field full of miniature ponies.
4. We saw a road named Eaton Drive.
5. We saw a road named Brooks Street.
6. The road our house was on was named TANG-O-MAR.
That's six Penguins associations right there: Sid, Jordan, TK, Delaware, Brooksie, and Letang. How nice. :)

We took notes while traveling so we wouldn't forget about all the fun we had, and we wanted to document it. There are a few things that Guardian has written down though that I don't remember talking about, so I'm going to do my best to summarize our AMAZING vacation. Since I was driving, it was hard for me to take in everything. Here are a few things that went on while on vacation.
Note: That's about all of the hockey related stuff we have, so if you are expecting more you can go ahead and quit reading. The stuff that follows is simply a little insight into our minds. Just a warning, you might kill a few brain cells. Oh, and if you are confused about some of it, I guess that's the parts where you just had to be there. Good Luck!

Oh... Guardian has something written down about Michael Jackson Syndrome. I'm not for sure what that is. Maybe something about bleaching your skin.... Moving on.

I don't know what it is, but apparently TN is not a place for armadillos. Alabama, Georgia and Florida are though. There were armadillos everywhere. And what's sad is, I've been to Florida a dozen times... and usually on the same route... and I've never noticed armadillos. Somehow we got on the kick of armadillos. There was, what looked like, a bear crossing sign. We weren't so sure if the picture was supposed to be a bear or an armadillo, so we came up with the "Bearmadillo". Mighty fierce creatures they are! Unfortunately, most of the armadillos that we saw looked more like this:

In case you have never been to Alabama, we'll inform you that most of the people that work for the highway department must stay drunk because their roads are not that great. I complain about all of the construction on Tennessee highways but at least ours have been paved in the past thirty years and the medians are kept mowed. Don't get me wrong... I have nothing against Alabama. I love living in the south and Alabama is part of that, but it was not a very scenic or comfortable drive through the part we ventured into. We also got a kick out of some of the town names.
Examples:
1. Okaloosa
2. Arkadelphia (which we re-named, Ardvarkadelphia)
3. Tuscaloosa (not that funny, except that Guardian called it Tuskaloosca)
4. Coosada
5. Wetumpka
Just to name a few. Very nice.

The part of this long road that I was even remotely excited about was when we reached the sign that read Hank Williams Memorial Lost Highway. Seriously? I didn't even know there was such a thing. Had I not been the one driving, I would have had a picture of that sign! AND on our way home, I totally saw a sign that pointed toward the Hank Williams Memorial Museum. Son of a gun. I sooo would have went if I hadn't been following Smalls. But considering I didn't know my way home, I figured it would be best if I followed him until we at least crossed back into Tennessee.

Once we got into Florida we saw a sign on the side of a truck that said:
Cash's Male Dancers: "Buns so Tight, You'll Want to Take a Bite!"
Unfortunately, we never found this venue. *mumbles* (Gosh darn it!)

There's something written down about Abrakadoodle...
OH! That was a sign that we read advertising a summer school for kids that focused on their artistic abilities. We thought the name was real catchy!

At some point, Guardian and I are going to start a tree farm. This is one of the things that we decided while Slasher and Enforcer were asleep in the backseat.
We're going to name it: The Tree Hugger Adoption Agency.
Guardian and I saw lots of signs that were "R & R" this and that. Such as "R & R Auto Sales" or "R & R Lawn Care" or whatever. We started thinking of things that the R & R could stand for. Somehow we got on the subject of Batman and Robin. We figured one of the R's could stand for Robin and since Robin was Batman's sidekick, he needed a sidekick of his own. Thus, Roberto was born. Batman & Robin. Robin & Roberto... and Gomez. (We decided Robin & Roberto needed a guard dog.) Gomez is Robin & Roberto's chihuahua. We imagine Gomez would wear a yellow mask and purple cape with a yellow 'G' on it.
(Hey! It's a long drive to the beach and our imaginations get away with us. Okay? Don't judge.)

There are lots of Whataburger restaurants in the Southeastern United States I've noticed. Thus, I was the first to notice them and apparently I can't read that well, because I thought it said Whayaburger. I confused the 'T' for a 'Y' and now I'll probably never live it down.Speaking of never living something down, Enforcer will never live down the following conversation. Just a little background before we get to it though... we were driving around in Destin and I'm noticing all of the different license plates. Guardian, Slasher and our other cousin Doug, were in the car as well. Apparently Doug and Enforcer were having a separate conversation from the rest of us and so... this is what came about...

Me (Pansy): Man. There sure are a lot of Texas cars here in Florida.

Enforcer: Yeah. There are a lot of those in Texas.

Yes. She seriously said that.

She also said she enjoyed weed at some point. I don't believe she meant THAT kind of weed. I hope she didn't anyway. ;)

On our trip home we saw a road sign that read "Twilight Rd". I thought about stealing it.

There was a sign outside of a rinky-dink gas station that was supposed to say Ice Cold Beer. But it read more like this... I C COD Beer. (I See Code Beer)

There was a sign on the right side of the road that pointed to the left side of the road that just simply said "Blackman". We think it was the name of the road because there was no one standing there.

One more thing. As some of you may know, our friend Marshall is serving overseas. We have created "Marshall on a Stick" and he goes with us on road trips. We did indeed take him with us on vacation and he had a great time, although he did spend a few days passed out in the back seat of the car. Anyway, Guardian and I were standing in line in a restaurant in Alabama when a man and women behind us kindly asked us the story behind the picture. We proceeded to tell them the story behind "Marshall on a Stick"... that he's our best friend serving in Iraq and that we take him with us wherever we go and we take pictures and send them to him. The man just happened to be retired from the Army and he had also served in Iraq. He was touched that we would do such a thing for our friend. He told us that we were doing a good thing and he thanked us for it. Honestly, what we are doing is nothing. They are the ones making the sacrifice. That being said, we found a great website. Slasher read it off the back of a tractor-trailer. Packages From Home is a website where you can go to donate goods or money... or your time... to prepare packages for our servicemen and women overseas. If you are a big supporter of our troops, it's a great website to check out. If you don't have the financial means to make a donation, there is also a place where you can write the soldiers a letter. If you get the chance, just give them a big thanks. It's the little things that make the biggest differences.

And last, but certainly not least, I almost forgot to mention the most memorable part of our trip. So as not to confuse anyone, I'm going to tell you all how Enforcer, Slasher, Guardian and I are related. Guardian and Slasher are sisters and their dad and my dad are twins. Enforcer's mom... Aunt Moose... is their older sister. There ya go. First cousins.

Anyway... on the long drive home we (Enforcer, Slasher, Guardian and I were in a car together) decided that we would hold signs up in the window to Aunt Moose (since she's not conquered the art of texting yet) just to say 'hi' and such. I guess she got tired of us at some point, because Smalls motioned me to drive around him and when we did, MOOSE MOONED US!!! I thought I was going to run off the road because I was laughing so hard! Let me just tell you, you've never lived until you've been mooned by your fifty-something year old aunt. It was great!

Anyway... unfortunately we are home now, but we are already planning next year's trip.

If you made it this far through the blog... we appreciate it. We've found that we have acquired a couple of more "fans". Thanks. We enjoy having you here. We hope you don't think we're crazy.

Until next time... Peace, Love & HockeyIs it preseason yet?

Oh... and don't forget... the ESPY's come on at 9:00 ET!

Go Penguins!

Is It Time For Vacation Yet?

I'm sorry we're not on top of this. We're not good with this whole blogging thing. I don't know where people find the time to do this everyday. We barely get one done once a week, and that's because I do most of the writing. I try to get the other three to blog, but they apparently don't think you all would be as entertained if they wrote. I disagree. I think they would do great. Anyway, we leave on vacation on Sunday! Thank you Jesus! This has been the longest work week ever. I'm ready for Hockey Day. Less than a week now.

In other news... we slack. We didn't write up a huge goodbye speech to Rob Scuderi like we did for Hal Gill. Scuderi will be missed just as much though. We loved screaming his name during hockey games! It is such a fun name to yell. You can say it tons of different ways. (Well, we can anyway, being from the South and all.) You can draw it out like we do with our long southern drawls... Scoooderi. Or say it real fast Scdri. Or just regular I guess, Scuderi. Any way you say it, it's fun, and it will be missed. :( Scuderi was there from our beginning. As I've said before, Guardian, Slasher and I just picked up on this hockey thing at the end of the regular season so we're still learning. The 2009 Stanley Cup Champions are our team. We'll always remember them as our first team. And Scuderi and Gill were a part of that. We're going to really miss them. But life goes on... and so does hockey. Good Luck Guys!

Anyway...
WELCOME BACK FEZ!!!

Although we're sad to report the goodbyes, we're HAPPY to report the returns. Ruslan Fedotenko has re-signed with the Penguins and we love it! We've decided since his last name is so long we'll just call him Fez. It works, right? I, personally, am excited aboot his return because that means I get to hear Guardian say (every time Fez is mentioned): "Hey, did you know his name's in a song? Want me to sing it for you? I see a little silhouetto of a man, Scaramouche, scaramouche will you do the Fandango? Thunderbolt and lightning-very very frightening me-Galileo,galileo,Galileo galileo, Galileo figaro-magnifico" I guess you would have to be sitting next to her during every game to appreciate her singing.

We've discovered the latest video of some of the Penguins in the offseason. We wish Tyler Kennedy and Kris Letang worked at our news stations. We would try to get jobs there. I would go back to school for that opportunity! ;)

And don't forget to check out the Penguins Stanley Cup adventures. Tyler Kennedy was the first one to spend some time with Lord Stanley. Apparently he and his friends really enjoy Boston Pizza.

We enjoy this!

Philipe Boucher also got his turn with the cup. He celebrated with cheesecake. Smart man!

As far as everything else goes... it's good. Life is good. We've had bible school this week at our church so we haven't got much accomplished.

We leave for the beach on Sunday. I think we're leaving at like... 4:00 AM!!! Aunt Moose says she'll take first shift driving in our vehicle though. I think she just wants to spend extra time with us... or she wants to really drive my car one! :) We can't wait though. We've been counting down the days! It's going to be lots of fun! We'll try to post pictures when we get back. If Slasher takes the pooter (computer), we may post on Hockey Day. It'll be a time for celebration! Ha ha.

We hope all of you had a wonderful 4th of July! We sure did. We had over $300 worth of fireworks. Boomsday has nothing on us. Slasher and Guardian's brother Josh, our other cousin Doug, and myself blew up a cinder block. Accidentally, of course. Talk about a bunch of rednecks... we sure acted like it. That's a tale for another day though.

Not just on the holidays, but everyday... please remember our troops! They sacrifice their lives so that we may enjoy ours.

Until we meet again... peace, love & hockey!

XOXOXO

We'll miss you Hal Gill...

Goodbye Hal Gill!
We must tell you that we will terribly miss you! You made our lives complete. You were part of the team that we have recently come to love! You helped turn our lives around by providing us with much awesomeness to appreciate in our recent jump into the hockey world! We'll never forget you. We'll watch you play for Montreal if that's what you want from us. We'll babysit your kids. We'll clean your house. We'll wash your car. We'll do whatever it takes to not lose you forever! We just want to let you know that David Beckham will never have the abs that you have. No man can be the man that you are. We WILL miss you. This isn't goodbye. This is just till we see you again. And if there is nothing else to be said, we want to let you know, we hate to see you go but we love to watch you leave. (yeah, it was lame, but I had to throw it in there. we love him.)

In other news, still no news on Scuderi. Or Fedotenko.

We haven't posted in a while, so we would just like to say we're happy to have Billy Guerin back. He's Aunt Moose's favorite and he makes her happy. And we like for her to be happy, cause she cooks for us when she's happy. We're happy she's happy. It means more food. :) OH, and we bought her a shirt for our new holiday... "HOCKEY DAY"... and if he would've left, then she would have had a Guerin shirt and nowhere to wear it.

(FYI... we came up with "HOCKEY DAY" as a way to cope in the offseason. Since there are four of us, we each decided we would buy one other person a gift for "HOCKEY DAY". And we're family so it's not as awkward buying random gifts. Course we all went in together on Aunt Moose's gift. The only rules... said gift has to be hockey related, of course, and most likely Penguins related as well. We've designated July 15th as the first annual "HOCKEY DAY". No particular reason but that it's the day right in the middle of our vacation. In the future, the date may change. We'll base it on how far the Penguins go in the playoffs and how long the offseason is for us. Feel free to buy and send us things if you like. We like gifts. Also feel free to buy your friends hockey related gifts and have a slice of cake in honor of our hard working Penguins, until we get to see them again. It truly will be like Christmas in July. How much fun will that be?)

We're glad to have Craig Adams back, too. He needs to live in playoff mode all the time. He looks better with a beard in our opinion.

Oh, and much thanks to The Hockey Junkies, Puck Huffers, and the Pensblog for keeping us updated today with the free agency. We couldn't have made it through the day without you. You kept us sane... well, that may not be possible but you did help some.

And we have also discovered that we have followers!!! You have no idea how much that excites us. We thought we were the only one's that read this. But we've discovered that other people apparently think we're okay! Thank you. You are our new favorite people! You can say you were there when it all began. lol. Or if you don't want to admit to it, that's cool. We'll understand. :)
Let's hope free agency goes well. For now though, we're going to go dry our tears and wish Hal Gill the best of luck!
Until next time... peace, love & hockey!

What's that you say?

There isn't much to post about nowadays. We are glad it's summer, but we already miss hockey. It's nine hundred degrees here in East TN and extremely humid. It's kinda miserable. The lake is calling our names.

We wish we could say that we have lots of fun things to post aboot this summer or that we're going to be on here every day keeping you all entertained, but I'm pretty sure that we are the only ones that read this, thus there's no use in trying to entertain people that don't exist. We leave on vacation in three weeks. We're going to Florida for a few days. It'll be our first beach vacation together. It's Guardian's first time on vacay with us. This should be interesting!

In case you missed it... the Pittsburgh Penguins finished up their hockey season... it was great... and, oh yeah, we won this:

I don't know much about hockey, but I'm pretty sure that's important, right?

We were a little disappointed with the NHL Awards. Seeing as it was our first time viewing them, we thought there would be a lot more about, ya know, the champions. Apparently not. We did get to see plenty of pics of this though:

Which is totally worth that whole hour and half of our lives that we'll never get back. I mean, seriously. Definitely worth it.

Hope you all have a great summer! We know we are going to!

Until next time... peace, love & hockey.

XOXOXO

Bring a Friend...

NHL Awards start in less than two hours!!! Grab a beer (or some cheesecake) and a friend (or two) and go watch!!!

Tonight we dedicate this post to our good friend Marshall who is serving overseas in Iraq. Marshall is on his second deployment in five years. He's been gone three months now and we miss him TONS! Marshall is a big hockey fan like us (or we like to think he is anyway) and he's been with us to a couple of games since he's been gone. We've incorporated "Marshall on a Stick" into our road travels and he's learning all about hockey. Actually, he only made it to one game. He was passed out in the backseat of the car for the second game (i.e. We forgot him, sorry Marshall. We're horrible friends.) Marshall's favorite player is Brooks Orpik (he just doesn't know it yet). If you are reading this, we want you all to know how much we appreciate our troops and we ask that you take the time to stop and say thanks to a soldier for all he or she does for us.

Anyway, we've decided since all of our players can't win an award, we'll give out our own awards.

So, here we go:

Best Ass: Sidney Crosby
Best Abs: Hal Gill
Best Eyes: Brooks Orpik
Best Looking Staal: Jordan Staal (although Enforcer and Slasher disagree, Guardian and I outvote them... and the other Staals aren't on this team, therefore, Jordan wins)
Best Hair: Kris Letang
Best Smile: Marc Andre Fleury
Best Pimp Hand: Max Talbot
Best Russian Defenseman: Sergei Gonchar
Best Nostrils: Tyler Kennedy
Best Skin: Ruslan Fedotenko
Best New Dad: Chris Kunitz
Best Stanley Cup Tattoo: Pascal Dupuis
Best Assistant Goalie: Rob Scuderi
Best Back-Up Goalie: Mathieu Garon
Best Player to Play in Only One Cup Finals Game in 2009: Petr Sykora
Favorite Harvard Grad: Craig Adams
Favorite Player From Deleware: Mark Eaton
Favorite Bad-Ass: Matt Cooke
Favorite MVP: Evgeni "Geno" Malkin
Favorite Old Guy: Bill Guerin
Best Rookie Coach: Dan Bylsma
Hottest Knight/Owner: Mario Lemieux

If you have any other suggestions, please let us know!

Until next time... peace, love & hockey.

Bet Ya Didn't See That Coming...

So... things may be a little misspelled tonight... we've had to do our celebrating a night late (at which time we are also celebrating Guardian's 21st b-day). Not that we didn't pee our pants and scream endlessly last night, but we had things to do today and well, they needed to be done sober. :)

But we're done with that part! Celebratory celebrations now!

I don't know what to say. It's hard to put into words the things that we are feeling right now! We are sooo happy for our boys! The media, other teams, Detroit... they all had their doubts... they all thought the Penguins couldn't pull it off... but you know what, WE DID!!!

We need celebration music!

Turning on some O.C.M.S. - Wagon Wheel.

(Well, it's good for us. Ya'll can turn on some Queen, We Are The Champions, or whatever floats your boat. This is our thing.)

If I die in Raleigh at least I will die free.

You know what, we feel bad for Hossa... we really do (except Enforcer, she hopes he breaks his neck). I mean, seriously, what a jackass! But you know, he said it, had he not have taken the position with Detroit maybe we wouldn't have acquired the players that we did and thus, perhaps no Stanley Cup.

But you know what, we did win! And Hossa didn't. And it makes us happy just thinking about it! Nuff said.

We had the heart. We had the determination. We had the skill.

We also had:

Sid's butt. H.G.'s A-B's. Talbot's ax-man beard. Staal's gorgeous eyes. Letang's (well you know that hair does it for us). Fleury's smile. We had Geno dropping the F bomb occassionally. Orpik's crazy eyes. Scuderi's splits. Tank's killer shots. Kunitz had a million crazy hits. Matt Cooke's all around bad-ass-ness. Geurin's experience. Gonchar's leadership. And 100% determination from the rest of the team. What more could we ask for?

Anyway, we would love to go on and on, but I think the Jack is getting to Enforcer, and this Mountain Valley wine is starting to mess with my head. Guardian and Slasher left the conversation long ago and are on the verge of passing out. We shall talk more aboot our Stanley Cup win, but you'll have to wait till we get sobered up (which might take a week or two... ha ha... we kid, we kid).

We have an amazing summer to plan and there is nothing that we can't accomplish now! Looking forward to next season!

Until next time... peace, love & hockey!

XOXOXO

Let It Go...

I'm ranting today without the help of my co-writers... but it's okay, I think they'll understand.
There aren't too many things to be happy about after last night. We're here... we're alive... but we're not too freaking happy about the way things went down last night!
5-0
Yesh. That was the final score. How does that happen?
Yes, we could have played better. Yes, we took too many stupid penalties. Yes, the refs sucked. But it's like the whole universe was against us last night.
How can the universe hate penguins?!
That's like saying you hate cake and ice cream. What kind of person hates cake and ice cream?
I'm pretty sure Detroit's refs hate cake and ice cream.
And I'm pretty sure they hate the Penguins.
We played two AMAZING games in Pittsburgh!!!
AMAZING!
It's like that shit didn't even matter last night. It's like we weren't even the same team. We played well though, why didn't it look like we weren't?
Poor Malkin took three penalties on his own. Three! I've only been watching hockey for a short time but I'm pretty sure that's the most time I have ever seen him spend in the penalty box.
Sid had a lot of good shots, but apparently Detroit has some sort of invisible puck deflector on their goals that only allows shots from their players to go in. Seriously. It's a conspiracy.
Poor Marc Andre. We won't even go there. My heart aches for him. Not seeing him smile really breaks my heart. I can't stand to see him sad. He needs a hug. He'll rebound though. I'm sure he's already forgot about it.
Some things that went down....
They scored... (5 times to be exact). We didn't.
They had, like, two penalties. We had... nine.
They had those extra three players in the striped shirts.
Hossa still didn't score. Neither did Datsyuk. (Hate that for them).
So Detroit's up one game in the series. It's not a problem. This shit is going back to Pittsburgh and our Penguins have their fans behind them.
We are the better team. We have the heart. We have the talent.
We got this. We're taking the Cup this year. We're going to do it.
Let's Go Pens.
Until next time... peace, love & hockey.
XOXOXO
